Kyle Wiltjer announced during halftime of Saturday's Boost Mobile Elite 24 all-star game in California that he is committed to play college basketball at Kentucky, meaning John Calipari now has pledges from four prospects who MaxPreps.com ranks among the top 20 in the Class of 2011.

"I want to let Coach Calipari know I'm coming to Kentucky," Wiltjer said. "I'm excited to be a part of that team."

Wiltjer is a 6-foot-9 forward from Portland who chose UK over Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Kansas, California, Texas and Wake Forest. He joins Michael Gilchrist (No. 1 at MaxPreps.com), Anthony Davis (No. 5 at MaxpPreps.com) and Marquise Teague (No. 9 at MaxPreps.com) as UK pledges, which almost certainly assures the Wildcats will have the nation's top-ranked recruiting class for the third straight year.

UK adds fourth top 20 prospect

People get mad because UK didn't win the championship last season whei so much talent. Give Cal a couple years to have guys like Lamb, Poole, and Maybe Wiltjer stick around for 2-3 years. Couple those kids sticking around for a couple years and a class of one and done players. That is when your championship will come in.

Not our fault you came to Rupp and sucked........remember, your coach left KU on probation.  The NCAA, after tearing down your cheating football program will take the whol athletic department apart with it's teeth - can't wait.

UK adds fourth top 20 prospect

You do know that UK graduated 4 players last season?  One of which was a kid (Patterson) who was not only and all-SEC player but graduated in 3 years?  You don't want the one-and-dones so don't worry about it, we'll take them and graduate some players to boot.

UK adds fourth top 20 prospect

You "never win a championship with freshman" people are aware of UK's roster this year, right?

1 SR-Harrelson
3 JR-Miller, Liggins, Vargas
1 SO-Hood
6 FR-Knight, Kanter, Jones, Lamb, Poole,and Polson

Early projected starters:

2 JR-Miller, Liggins
3 FR-Knight, Kanter, Jones

That's not quite an all-Frosh team.

Last year starters

1 JR-Patterson
1 SO-Miller
3 FR-Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe

Again, not an all-Frosh team.

Of course, by the time of the NCAA Tourney, all frosh are considered equal to a sophmore in terms of experience.  I would suggest that UK's frosh are more acclimated to the tourney atmosphere than most other players, regardless of class.  They play in front of 23,000+ every home game and, typically, before sell-out crowds in every road game.  In the SEC, the Kentucky game is the game of the year for most other teams.  All UK games are on television, with many on national television.

By the middle of March, these frosh have gone through the pressure-cooker of 9 conference road games as well as several high-profile OOC games.

I really don't see considering them freshman at this stage of the season.

Also, by your criteria, how come Kansas didn't win the championship?  A veteran team, battle-tested in the Big 12 and nationally, with a top-tier coach, with strong senior leadership.  Didn't even make the Elite 8.  Please explain why not...or was it because of that 5-star OAD Freshman they started?  Danged newbie, messed up all that wonderful team chemistry and esperience.

LEAVE UK200K and Coach Vacate aka. PayPal Cal ALONE !!!!!!!

Maybe after coaching Cal can become a Velcro salesman ... snatch take that banner down.

Go Cayuts  Go UKAY

Coach Vacate took the players golfing over the summer in Lexington as a good bye - funny thing is they only played 14 holes ... because Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins, Patterson, Orton and company couldn't find the Final Four ... lol

UCLA won NCAA titles in 1964, 1965, 1970 and 1971 w/ no player named Alcinder or Walton on their roster.  In fact the 1964 team had no player taller than 6'5".  Nice arguement.

But NOT a national championship team, which can only come through overcoming adversity and building a true team concept, as proven by Duke this past season. Kentucky will be talented, exciting to watch, and they will win a large number of games. But they won't win the national championship.

Duke was very lucky not to have a chance of playing Kentucky last year. Had Kentucky played Duke for the title than Kentucky would had won. Duke had trouble all season with teams with true center so in saying that D. Cousin would had killed Duke . So just be glad it wasn't Kentucky you were playing. North Carolina is the best team in you conference you know it ,i know it and North Carolina knows it .

UK adds fourth top 20 prospect

There are so many hypocrits on these blogs it is almost hysterical. If I understand this thread every school in the country can recruit, win titles, coach, and run their programs at championship levels without cheating except for UK. If UK is doing those things then we must be cheating. Coach Cal is labeled a poor coach because he hasn't won the title. Let's see, Coach Roy suffered for several years without a title at KANSAS and then fianlly won one with Coach Doherty's recruits. Coach K was probably one year away from being released at duke early in his career, but the AD gave him another year and that has worked out for him. I believe Coach K has had his share on players leaving early, but he has had several years to develop his talent pool on his team so that he can overcome those early exits. Now Coach Cal, who most of you say can't coach. He nearly won the title at UMass at a time when nobody in the country even new their mascot...HMMMM was that coaching or talent? Oh, I forgot it was cheating. Then he nearly won a title at Memphis out of CUSA...HMMMM was that coaching or talent? Oh, I forgot cheating again. For all you name callers you should read the full disclosure about both those incidents. Coach Cal was not responsible for either one. How can any coach or institution be held responsible for the Derrick Rose situation? DOes this mean every school that may be interested in any recruit that the school should send a representative to the testing site to make sure that the right person is there taking the test. THis was clearly an NCAA problem, their clearinghouse cleared him academically then laid the blame at the feet of Memphis. As for Camby he personally made the connection with the agent and Cal turned it in. I think this happened just two years ago with Bama football? Didn't Coach Saban catch his All-American offensive tackle with illegal contact with and agent? Yes, I believe he did. Fortunately for Saban he discovered it before the game and suspended him for the bowl game, but they lost anyway. Does this make Saban a cheater? By your standards it does. HE is getting great recruiting classes and one of his players made a mistake, there you go- he's a cheater! Fact is Coach Cal doesn't need to cheat!! THese great players want to play for him and at UK with everything we have to offer on campus and traditions. During Pitino's reign at UK he was able to select players that truly wanted to play for UK and his staff. He was to the point where he could tell the kids and their family; sign now or we will just sign someone else, but if you want to play for us we would love to have you! He had 4 and 5 star recruits waiting for him to make an offer and that is where Coach Cal is now. So all you whiners get your crying towel out and be prepared for the banners to start hanging from RUPP because once Cal gets his talent pool built up so that he returns his nucleus of players every year to go along with his great recruiting classes we may have to get another rafter in RUPP to find space to hang them all!!!
